Age of Sigmar Update
Yesterday, we announced some Age of Sigmar updates at Warhammer Fest that we are excited to share with you now, in what will be the first of many #MortalRealmsMondays!
Firstly, we are delighted to reveal the game’s official title:
Soulbound Starter Set
While we revealed the core book cover art a while back, we can now discuss the starter set and share its fantastic new cover art. The starter set will contain two books: an adventure book that will teach players and GMs how to play Soulbound; and a city guide that will give more information on a brand new city in the realm of Aqshy (more on that in later updates!).
As well as the two books, the Starter Set will come with pre-generated characters, player handouts, reference sheets, and lots more goodies we will discuss soon. The cover, created by Johan Grenier (who also created the core book cover art), is shown in full below. The top section (the city guide cover) depicts a city being cleansed of the taint of Tzeentch; the bottom section (the adventure book cover) shows our iconic heroes in desperate battle with hordes of Tzeentchian horrors and a terrifying Lord of Change. Together the two covers combine to make one amazing portrait image.
And that’s not all, we also have some wonderful new art for some of our Archetypes.
An Archetype defines the broad strokes of the character you play in the game. It may be your job, a calling, a military rank, or something a little more esoteric, but whatever it is it represents who you are when you first pick up the dice. Your Archetype is who you are now, but who, or what, you might become has yet to be decided.
We also think it’s important to focus on daily life and what it entails for the people who live there. This will give both players and GMs an idea of what it would be like to adventure in these lands, who they might meet, and the threats they might face. It provides a grounding for you to set your adventure in any Realm you choose.
There are a huge amount of new and exciting developments for Age of Sigmar, so to ensure we make the best game possible we’ve moved the game’s planned release from the later part of this year to Spring next year. We look forward to sharing news regularly as we progress on our website and social media.
Next week, we’ll start to dig into the rules for Soulbound and explain how Tests work. Until then, blessings of Sigmar be upon you!

The adventure sees the party set out from Hammerhal Aqsha aboard an Arkanaut Frigate bound for the city of Brightspear in Apsira. Unfortunately, even travelling thousands of feet above ground doesn’t keep you safe from the horrors of the Mortal Realms…
Gamemaster’s Screen and Cities of Flame Supplement
Also in the next few weeks, we will release the PDF for the Gamemaster’s Screen, which includes the 32-page Cities of Flame supplement. This book contains 25 one-page adventures set in the major Cities of Sigmar in Aqshy: Anvilgard, Brightspear, Hallowheart, Hammerhal, and Tempest’s Eye. The Starter Set will be available for pre-order in Q3 2020.
Shadows in the Mist
The first major campaign for Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soulbound, Shadows in the Mist sees the players venture into the deadly mist shrouded streets of Anvilgard. A mysterious organisation known as the Blackscale Coil has a stranglehold on the city of Anvilgard, and the Soulbound have been sent to investigate. But the Coil is not all they have to worry about, as there is an even greater rot lurking in the mist…
Shadows in the Mist contains a 30 page guide to Anvilgard and six adventures. When you pre-order the hardcopy of Shadows in the Mist, you will receive the Anvilgard City Guide and the first adventure, Blood Tide, immediately. The following adventures will release every month, and you’ll receive the PDF as soon as it is available.
Shadows in the Mist will be available for pre-order in Q3 2020.
Champions of Order
Champions of Order presents players with even more options for creating their characters. This book contains at least one new Archetype for each faction presented in the corebook, and introduces a brand new group: the Lumineth Realm-lords of Hysh.
As well as new Archetypes, Champions of Order contains rules for Stormhosts, Fyreslayer Lodges, Glades, and other subfactions. The book also has new Talents, Miracles, spells, and Endeavours.
Champions or Order is expected for pre-order in Q4 2020.
Horrors of the Mortal Realms
Horrors of the Mortal Realms gives GMs dozens of terrifying monsters and creatures to throw at their players. Featuring bone chilling undead hordes, powerful daemons, and corrupted Slaves to Darkness, Horrors of the Mortal Realms is an invaluable companion to the Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soulbound corebook.

Steam and Steel contains all manner of cogwork and endrineering wonders. The book includes new rules and Endeavours for crafting, new aetheric devices and contraptions for the Kharadron Overlords, and more Fyreslayer Runes. The book also contains rules for vehicles such as Corsair wolf-ships, and Arkanaut Frigates.
